Focusing on the quantitative nature of biomechanics, Biomechanical Basis of Movement, 6th Edition, provides a rigorous introduction to this complex subject, integrating basic anatomy, physics, calculus, and physiology for the study of human movement. This exacting but approachable text applies laws of motion and mechanics to in-depth analysis of specific movements, incorporating current literature, meaningful numerical examples, relevant applications, hands-on exercises, and a robust collection of digital resources to provide an up-to-date understanding of the challenging area of biomechanics as it relates to exercise science.
Emphasizes clinical relevance with numerous examples and practice problems, full-color illustrations that clarify anatomical structures and movements, and new multi-step case study problems that walk you through complex calculations.
Presents mathematical examples in a detailed, logical manner that connects biomechanical concepts to real-world practice, preparing you to perform necessary calculations and use them to inform your decisions in the field.
Features thorough updates throughout, including new, more detailed content on different types of mechanical analyses; new research and how it applies to today’s practice; updated references; and expanded digital content with physics simulations, new BioDigital tours to help visualize joints and structures, chapter quizzes, animations, calculators, and more.
Provides chapter objectives, outlines, question boxes, and summaries that highlight key concepts, as well as review questions at the end of each chapter that test your comprehension and challenge you to apply concepts in a clinical context.
